Facelift surgery, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Borman

The most significant areas where aging manifests itself are our face and neck. These areas are also the areas most affected by women. They don't like to see wrinkles on their faces and sagging necks when they look in the mirror. There are many methods available for these individuals. A different method is suitable for each person. Our goal here isn't to achieve a very taut face; our goal is to return the tissues here to their proper positions. In other words, the surgery should be performed anatomically, without altering the facial expression. There are many surgical methods. These surgical methods include thread lifts, traditional facelifts, and even some non-surgical methods. During surgery, we generally make incisions inside and behind the ears. This means these incisions are made in inconspicuous areas. These scars are not visible when viewed from a distance. When planning these surgeries, we examine the face in different units. For example, the eyebrows, forehead, and eye contour are considered in one section, and the area above the cheekbones, the midface, is considered in a separate area. We consider the jaw and neck area together. Therefore, these should not be viewed as separate procedures. There should be a smooth transition between them. When performing these surgeries, the transition between the neck and chin area is crucial. There shouldn't be a gap between the two. Similarly, the transition between the midface and facelift should be very smooth and even. The patient has a recovery period depending on the procedure performed after the surgery. For example, minimally invasive thread lifts, non-surgical procedures using certain devices, and ultrasound procedures. Patients can return to work the same day. Patients typically have a five- to seven-day recovery period after surgery. During this period, swelling subsides. Any bruising will subside. If the patient has had neck surgery, we recommend wearing an elastic corset, also known as a neck brace, for approximately one week. Afterward, the patient can return to their normal routine.
